Research interests
Dr. Alfred Leick has been involved with GPS research since 1982 when he tested the prototype Macrometer satellite receiver at M.I.T. He continued GPS research while at the Air Force Geophysics Laboratory (Cambridge, Massachusetts) in 1984/85 (1 year), the University of Stuttgart in 1985/86 (1 year), 3S Navigation (Los Angeles, California) in 1996, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 2002 (6 months each). His research has been funded by NASA, the European Space Research Organization, the National Research Council, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany, Fulbright, the World Bank, the Corps of Engineers, the Department of Interior, the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, the National Science Foundation, and private industry. He is Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal GPS Solutions, published by Springer Verlag, and author of the book GPS Satellite Surveying and numerous technical publications. He teaches GPS, Geodesy, and Estimation and is the program coordinator of GPS-GAP (GPS, Geodesy and Application Program), which is offered asynchronously via the Internet.
