Dr. Eason has worked in the areas of steganography, sensor fusion, machine intelligence, microprocessor applications, and VLSI design. He has considerable programming experience in assembly language, C, C++, Visual C++, FORTRAN, Perl, and Prolog and has worked on applications in many areas. His current focus of work is in the area of steganography (aka data hiding). Other past work has includes machine intelligence applications involving artificial neural networks, expert systems, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms, and pattern recognition. Projects in this area have included the development of a shoe trimming machine for Dexter Shoe Company (This work has led to U.S patent number 5,485,643, Apparatus and Process for Trimming a Sole of a Shoe ), development of a robot programming language, mobile robot navigation, sensor fusion for determining object pose, image data compression, and camera calibration. His hardware experience includes the VLSI design of Zilog's 8581 Clock Generator and Controller, the VLSI design of a processor for rule-based systems, and the design of microprocessor-based sensory systems for industrial and mobile robots. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, and also Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi, and Eta Kappa Nu honorary societies. Other patents include a US patent entitled Display Apparatus Utilizing Persistence of Vision (5,748,157), a US patent entitled Large Capacity Steganography (Pending), and a patent for a steganography based ID card system. (Now Pending in Japan and have also applied through the Patent Cooperation Treaty for coverage in other countries.) Dr. Eason has been serving as faculty advisor for the University Flying Club since 1990 and for the University Ham Radio Club since 1995.
