Professor Lopez-Anido has over 12 years of experience in the areas of mechanics of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites for construction, durability analysis of composite materials, advanced experimental methods for composites, rehabilitation of civil infrastructure, reliability analysis and design of composite structures, and structural health monitoring using embedded fiber optic sensors.

Research interests

Roberto Lopez-Anido is a research leader in FRP composites at UMaine's AEWC Center. He has produced 48 refereed publications, 73 non-refereed publications and technical reports, and 5 patents. He received numerous awards including the NSF Career Award and the Fulbright Scholar Award.
