Mr. Manion has been employed by the University of Maine since 1992. He manages the civil and environmental engineering laboratories , as well as being active in geotechnical and structural research. Will currently teaches CIE 366 Soils Laboratory and CIE 111 Materials Laboratory, and has an active part in Web development for the department and campus.

Research interests
- Recreational construction. Part-time and weekend contractor, working on my own house as well as for friends and family.
- Selected by the Maine student chapter of the American Society for Civil Engineering as professor of the year for 2000 and 2002.
- College of Engineering Dean's award of excellence 2003-2004.
- College of Engineering student art show!
- Faculty advisor to the Maine student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. (SWE)
- Faculty advisor to the Maine student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. (ASCE)
- UMaine campus calendar: wrote the programming for the public and management interfaces. Beginning in 1998, the project has evolved for a number of years.
