Research interests
Yifeng Zhu is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at University of Maine. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 2002 and 2005 respectively. Before that, he received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. His research interests are in computer architecture and systems, data storage systems, parallel/distributed computing, cluster computing, sensor networks and embedded systems.
His current research projects focus on cluster supercomputing, job scheduling, caching, middlewares, metadata management, networking, and energy-aware computing. He is associated with the High Performance Computing Lab (HPC). You can find nice pictures of our supercomputers here. We have 256-node dual Xserve G5 cluster (Bender) and 208-node dual P3 cluster (Blackbear).
He is the director of the research lab Archsys: Computer Architecture and Systems Lab. His research is currently supported by National Science Foundation (CCF #0621493, CNS #0723093, DRL #0737583, CNS #0619430), Maine Space Grant Consortium, Sun Microsystems, Altera, and Xilinx.
